If you are new to keeping African cichlids and in particular peacocks cichlids than OB Peacocks are a man-made cichlid designed to create stunningly beautiful cichlids using the genus Aulonocara. In line breeding is nothing new to the cichlid hobby and there has been a proliferation in hybridized cichlids primarily driven by profit. This probably began with the most recognizable parrot cichlids followed by flowerhorn cichlids. That said these fish also labeled Aulonocara sp. ‘OB Peacock’ are not found in Lake Malawi. Whatever ones position on man-cichlids these fish are absolutely gorgeous and full of vibrant colors. The marker OB is said to represent or mean orange blotched.
