The Diamond tetra is present in the hobby since 1933. The species lives endemic in the Lake Valencia in Venezuela (Inclusive some tributary rivers). Usually only bred specimens are available, only every now and then some wild collected ones appear in the trade. At the first glimpse the fish may look a bit unspectacular, but this beguiles. In the right light the adult fish glitter and glimmer in a breathtaking way and show why they really deserve the name Diamond tetra!
