Jaguar cichlid food what to feed your managuensis cichlids
Jaguar cichlid food are the essential building blocks for a healthy large guapote. Parachromis managuensis or Jaguar cichlids are members of a large group of predatory cichlid fish from Central America. These beautiful fish get their nickname because of the similarity of their colors and color pattern which resembles the jaguar cat which is one of the largest cats of South America’s big cats.
Managuensis as they are sometimes referred to are omnivorous feeders which means they will eat just about anything and are known not to be fussy eaters, so managuensis food is readily available to hobbyists. Jaguar cichlid food are the essential building blocks for a healthy large guapote.
So what kinds of Jaguar cichlid food should I buy?
Feeding guapote fish is not terribly difficult because these fish are always hunger and looking for opportunities to fill their bellies. Most large cichlids are also known to over eat you will want to limit portions for proper health and water conditions.
In terms of food to offer this will depend on the size of your Managuensis cichlid. Let’s assume you are raising young or juvenile Parachromis managueniss. You may consider offering them cichlid flake foods, small sinking or floating pellets and freeze dried krill. It’s important to balance the diet with offering algae or spirulina for benefits of getting vegetable matter in their diet.
As the jaguar cichlids increase in size which is at fairly decent rate of growth you will have to increase the portions of food. At some point the flake foods will be too small or messy and can be dropped. The cichlid pellets scaled accordingly because their sold in small, medium and large sized pellets.
Offering live foods in particular feeder fish like feeder goldfish is ok but you run the risk on introducing cichlid diseases. These fish are cheap to purchase but can end up costing you more in the end. One good live food to consider are earthworms or night crawler which can be found at Walmart or local hunting stores. Earthworms are great for getting females to develop eggs rather quickly and can be fed one a week.
