Chocolate cichlids need no introduction and it’s no surprise that Hypselecara cichlids are fancied by aquariums for peaceful community tanks. These large and dramatically colorful cichlids are native to South America where they can be found in the Amazon and Orinoco basins. The common name for Hypselecara temporalis is the chocolate cichlid or the emerald cichlid. Aquarium Glaser is offering these for sale. Their specimens are
collected form the Rio Oyapock with incredible red coloration. Note male are much more larger than females.
The Emerald cichlid has become a bit out of fashion. This is a quite sad thing, for this impressive large cichlid - males can become up to 30 cm long, females always stay much smaller - is one of the most beautiful species of cichlid of South America. For the first we can offer now German bed specimens of the population from the Rio Oyapock. The splendid red colors make the look an artificial sport, but they are a true wild form! For our customers: the fish have code 683082 on our stock list. Please note that we exclusively supply the wholesale trade. Lexicon: Hypselecara: means "deep bodies Acara"; Acara is the Tupi word for cichlid. temporalis: means "with a high forehead". Common name: Emerald cichlid Text:
