Corydoras aeneus the bronze catfish is one of the most popular smaller catfish of the Corydoras species in the aquarium hobby. These beautiful cats are also known as the green Corydoras or the wavy catfish. This species is recorded found over a wide range of South America including Columbia, Paraguay and Trinidad. Despite their popularity this species is reported to be easy to breed and thus should be readily available and if you can’t find any near you there may be some available for sale below.
It’s best to keep the bronze Corydoras in small groups so that they may shoal. Consider at least six individuals for your community tank. This handsomely marked catfish will accept all prepared aquarium foods including live and freeze dried products.
Corydoras aeneus tolerates water conditions well with a pH from 6.5 – 7.5 with temperatures between 70 to 80 degrees in the aquarium. Like most Corydoras the females are larger and wider than males which remain slimmer.
