Ancistrus for sale Buy Bristlenose pleco lemon drop and super red bushy nose
So what are Ancistrus for sale? Well there a genus of freshwater catfish which goes by a couple of nicknames in the hobby namely bristlenose plecos or plecostomus and their also called bushynose plecos. This genus name comes from the Greek word agkistron translating to mean hook. The hook refers to the cheek odontodes which in males is the fleshy tentacles found on adult males, interestingly females may possess these tentacles along their snouts but they remain smaller and unlike males these tentacles are lacking on their heads.
These catfish are rather easy to maintain as they tolerant of a wide range of water conditions. Bristle-nose catfish are consumers of algae and aufwuchs. There are nice selections of sinking pellets on the market which contain spirulina and algae wafers. These fish are not known to school and it is not uncommon for them to hide when not feeding. Bushynose plecos can live over ten years and some may reach around six inches or so in length, females remain slightly smaller on average. Some hobbyists like to include greens such as blanched zucchini and other vegetables.
