and what makes them so interesting and appealing is their coloration, interesting behavior and their size. This species of cichlid is fantastic from the perspective of size; Julidochromis are considered dwarf cichlids and are known to be slow growing.
Like most dwarf cichlids these Tanganyikan cichlids require hard alkaline water which can be accomplished simply by using dolomite in the tank. The pH level ranges around 8.5 – 9.0 generally. Julidochromis are relatively easy to spawn and care for. This species is a secretive cichlid fish which are substrate spawners, this means they lay their eggs on a hard surface and they love caves and tight crevices. Both parents are biparental in brood care and this species has been known to breed in harems.
