Hemichromis sp. Guinea II the other Jewel Cichlid from Guinea
The genus Hemichromis can be - generally speaking - divided into two groups: the large, five-spotted species (Hemichromis fasciatus, H. frempongi, and H. elongatus) and the Red Jewel Cichlids. The latter group contains all remaining described species of Hemichromis. The species with five spots are not only large (usually at least 15 cm, often even larger), but also very aggressive and predatory. The Red Jewel Cichlids, on the other hand, stay usually small (under 10 cm as a rule) and are a bit quarrelsome, but can be nevertheless kept in community of other fish, given the tank is large enough.
Although the color "red" is not represented on the body of Hemichromis sp. Guinea II, it belongs to the group of the Red Jewels. The very unusually, but also very beautifully colored species has not yet been described scientifically. We were able to bring them in after quite a long time again with our recent Guinea importation.
For our customers: the animals have code 537104 on our stock list. Please note that we exclusively supply the wholesale trade.
